The name Bibliophile comes from ancient Greek and means “a lover of books, or a book-collector”. Bibliophile is a small family bookstore, run and owned by one of our longest standing locals Debra Stewart. It is housed in a charming wood and iron building alongside the historical Railway Bus Depot in Church Street. The Free State colonial architectural style and library ambience, enhanced by an extensive collection of Folio Society volumes, serve as a gentle reminder of a bygone era. They offer an excellent and ever-changing selection of new, used and unusual books in a wide range of categories, plus a stock of maps, travel guides of the area and souvenir books on Southern Africa. Debra’s music section features a superb selection of jazz, classical and world music on CD and Vinyl. In the Artists’ Corner they stock easels, canvases, paints, sketch pads and a range of other art supplies and materials for visitors who are inspired by the breathtaking scenic beauty that surrounds Clarens.A variety of games, puzzles and activities for all ages complete their repertoire. Bibliophile hosts the Clarens Country Market in their front garden on Saturday mornings. This charming community endeavor, affords local entrepreneurs an opportunity to display and sell their hand-made crafts and produce, in congenial surroundings. Pop in to meet Debra, and soak in all of the above!#mytimeinclarens #clarens #staysafe #letsplaysafe ...
