Clarens’ inaugural parkrun was kicked-off on 30 March 2019 by Bruce and Jill Fordyce and local director Peet Pelser. The Clarens Village Conservancy upgraded the existing hiking trails resulting in a safe and scenic parkrun route.
The route attracts 110 athletes on average, plus the mascot Labrador tail-wagger!
Our Clarens parkrun is unique in a way that our single loop varies in altitude and reaches a maximum height of 1890m above sea level at the highest point, with spectacular views of the majestic Maluti Mountains.
The 5km, well, sign-posted course is a challenging mix of gravel and trail paths. You will encounter mud, leaves and puddles in summer, frost and ice in winter, volunteer marshals at key points, sprinters, joggers, walkers, dawdlers, kids, adults, grannies and grandpas, funky gear, big smiles and lots of puffing.
We’re also extremely grateful for the support of our local sponsors and volunteers.
